This research aims to develop multicultural media education system and it's program model in Korea. For this, this study have two research subjects. First, look over multicultural media education program in nation-wide and the character of programs. For this, research team investgate the case of multicultural education program about Multicultural Support Center which supported by the Ministry of Gender Equality & Family, Civic Media Center, and Migrant Broadcasting. Second, suggest suitable multicultural media education program in Korea. Relation to this, research team carry out survey to migrant women, multicultural education experts, media education experts, the staffs of Multicultural Support Center and Civic Media Center, and the general citizens.
According to our investigation, multicultural media education program have done and now practice by Multicultural Support Center and Civic Media Center. However, the programs are different due to coordinating organization. For example, Multicultural Support Center practice IT program supported by the Nationa1 Information Society Agency and KT-IT supporter teams. On the other hand, Civic Media Center practice media competence program which to cultivate migrant's media literacy titled on community education or the alienated education.
As a result, this research suggest two research findings. First, for the multicultural media education system in nation wide, build the collaboration network system based on Multicultural Support Center, Civic Media Center, and other cooperate organizations. and need the control tower which organize the multicultural media education program. Plus, multicultural broadcasting channel also shall be important institution for multicultural education. Second, multicultural media education programs are make up of three category; IT education, Media competence education, and Multicultural understanding education. IT education is for the information technology education relation to Internet, computer, smart phone to the migrants. Media competence education is to cultivate media literacy and the ability of practical use for the social communication and self expression to the the migrants. Multicultural understanding education is to increase mutual understanding multicultural cociety and it will be apply all the citizen in nation wide.
