The purpose of this paper is to study the possibility of strengthening economic cooperation between Busan and Kyeongnam Province, and Russian Far East Region. For this purpose, author examined the economic cooperation between Russian Far East Region and Russia's two main trading partners: Hokkaido Province of Japan and Northeastern province of China.
Based on the results of this study, author provides some implications of economic cooperation between Busan and Kyeongnam Province, and Russian Far East Region. In case of Hokkaido Province of Japan, Hokkaido government supported small and medium enterprises engaging in business with Russian Far East Region. Northeastern province of China, namely Heirungjang province, also provides special benefit to enterprises engaging in border trade with Russian Far East Region.
In conclusion, author suggests government of Busan and Kyeongnam Province to hold regular meetings with Regional government of Russian Far East in order to discuss common interests with each other and to strengthen their economic cooperation. The author also suggests the government to establish 'Korean-Russian Business Center' especially for small and medium enterprises of Busan and Kyeongnam Province which will provide useful information for business promotion and to support 'personal exchange program' between two nations.
