An increasing number of hotel organizations endeavor to achieve long-term competitive advantages in the marketplace through the implementation of strategic performance measurement systems. These systems are designed to integrate and monitor strategic objectives throughout the business processes. This paper examines the strategic performance measurement systems of two hotel organizations-White Lodging Services and Hilton Hotels-using the Balanced Scorecard(BSC) framework. This comparative study illustrates how hotel organizations plan, improve and monitor their strategic performance targets through the use of comprehensive performance measurement systems. The paper also recommends specific approaches for the implementation of the BSC for hotel organizations.

증가하는 시장경쟁시대에서 호텔조직은 전략적 성과 측정 시스템을 통하여 장기적인 경쟁적 이점을 달성하기 위한 노력을 해오고 있다. 전략적 성과 시스템은 호텔 내부 비즈니스 과정을 전체적으로 통합하고 모니터링하는 전략적 목적으로 설계된다. 본 연구는 성공적인 기업들이 적용하여 새로운 성과평가의 패러다임으로 인정받고 있는 카플란과 노튼의 균형잡힌 성과지표(Balanced Scorecard:BSC) 개념의 실행가치와 적용사례를 논의하였다. 미국의 호텔기업 중 균형잡힌 성과지표를 적용하여 성공적으로 시행하여 온 두 호텔 체인- White Lodging Services and Hilton Hotels-의 성과측정 지표를 비교하였다. 본 연구는 호텔조직이 균형잡힌 성과지표의 포괄적이고 통합적인 성과 측정 시스템을 어떻게 계획, 실행, 그리고 모니터링 하는가를 두 호텔 체인 조직을 통하여 살펴보았다. 아울러 본 연구를 통하여 호텔 조직을 위한 균형잡힌 성과지표 실행을 위한 제안과 일반적인 성과지표를 제시하였다.
