This study is a comprehensive study on eco-friendly children's furniture, which includes theoretical studies, experimental studies for eco-friendly verification of eco-friendly materials and furniture products, user and consumer observation and interview studies, practical process studies, and development of evaluation tools. Four types of eco-friendly children’s furniture were set up for learning, relaxation, storage, and other, and the guidelines were established by drawing environmental planning elements according to the requirements for satisfying basic functions, design considerations and materials by dividing the ages from 0 to 1, 2 to 3, 4 to 5, 6 to 7, 8 to 10, and 11 to 13. In order to derive a design manual suitable for the development of each age group, a study that considers ergonomic dimensions, user preferences, consumer preferences, emotional development factors, eco-friendliness, children's physical, social, emotional, language, and play development by age group is conducted. In order to derive specific design guidelines for the eco-friendliness of children's furniture, data on how to apply the safety of furniture materials and structure, 5R (Reduce, Reform, Reuse, Recycle, Replace), and sustainability were recorded. This study has also formulated a design manual and organized various ways of stimulating colors, sounds, scents and touch for children's development, creativity and emotional development. Finally, children's furniture is divided into children's (0-1 years) and infants (2-7 years) and students (8 ~ 13 years), focusing on learning, rest, and storage furniture. To facilitate product development and consumer choice, the basic types and forms were patterned for each age group to facilitate the development of furniture design programs. In this study, the guidelines for eco-friendly children's furniture design were prepared for each item and age group, and basic items of eco-friendly children's furniture for emotional development by item, material, and five senses were proposed. The purpose of this study is to suggest a design methodology of eco-friendly children's furniture that is ideal in the changing environment of the 21st century.
