This study conducted systematic research by subdividing the Internet of Things (IoT), which is a representative field of application of future key technologies, into fixed and mobile types, and focusing on the mobile Internet of Things (IoT) connected through a platform-based virtual network. In this study, which deals with the evolution and application of mobile convergence IoT technology, theory of structuration, structurational evolution model of technology, and Porter's IoT strategy model were adopted as the theoretical basis. A quantitative analysis methodology using business process modeling and simulation was presented in conjunction with industry convergence evolution and innovations.
The main research results conducted in this study are i) Developing a silver generation IoT utilization model on the basis of silver class activities classification such as social, mental health, physical health maintenance, and economic activity, and, ii) Mobile IoT device user characteristics identification targeting wearable device users, iii) Development of mobile IoT technology utilization framework for the education industry, iv) Investigating antecedent factors affecting the continuous use of IoT-based mobile payment service, v) Development of an IoT device development framework suitable for learners’ learning style, vi) Presenting a mobile IoT-based AED (automated cardiac pacemaker) model feasibility analysis model using BPM and simulation tools, vii) Deriving IoT basis predictive maintenance process change scenarios, and developing a quantitative expected effect analysis framework, followed by optimal maintenance policy development.
The results derived from this study can be used for extended IoT convergence application development research, technology and human interaction research for newly evolving mobile IoT, and quantitative effect estimation research in the area of IoT embedded products or moving vehicles. From a practical point of view, the results of this study can be used to design a mobile IoT technology business model in education, tourism, the silver industry, and so on. In addition, as for the education perspective, the results of this study can be used to foster college (graduate) student or industry people’s capability for the convergence applications development of technology and management.
