In order to analyze the role of professional baseball for community contribution, this study was designed to compare and analyze the relative role of professional baseball based on regional connections by analyzing local identity and community consciousness. These results are meaningful in that they provide a logical strategic background for professional baseball marketing by deriving sports regional cultural profiles that can contribute to the community, as well as understanding the net functional role of professional baseball and providing social infrastructure for local professional baseball industrialization.
Therefore, in the first year, 10 professional baseball teams were divided into local affiliates, and after applying the "quota-sampling method" for each location, a total of 1,034 people (male 541, female 489) were surveyed. Among them, 872 people (84.3 %) lived in each area.
Based on the collected data, the measured regional identity was identified as three concepts: self-esteem, equality, and categorization by identifying the characteristics of the multi-dimensional concept according to the local location of the professional baseball team.
In the second year, a comprehensive survey of consumers who visited the home stadiums of 10 professional baseball teams was conducted based on the respondents' gender and age variables, and a total of 1,529 data were collected as shown in Table 8. Based on these collected data, the team identity measured in the first year and the team identity measured in the second year and the structuralization of each measurement factor of the club's community contribution were verified by verifying the relationship between the variables and the potential variables using the AMOS 24.0 program. In addition, the composites reliability, convergent feasibility, and discriminatory validity evaluations were conducted to verify the validity of the components.
Next, for the purpose of this study, the level of community contribution of professional sports teams was identified by analyzing the local identity, community consciousness, and relationship between the team identity of 10 professional baseball teams in Korea. First of all, based on the multi-dimensional analysis of regional identity and community consciousness and determinant analysis through the CFA, the structural model (SEM) analysis showed that local identity and community consciousness affected team identity and community contribution.
