본 연구는 미래 예측 방법중의 하나인 델파이 방법(Delphi Technique)을 이용하여 국내 프로농구와 관련된 각계의 전문가들의 의견을 중심으로 프로농구의 발전방향을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 본 연구의 조사대상 전문가들은 학계의 농구, 스포츠 경영 및 스포츠 마케팅 관련 분야 전공 교수 및 연구원 9명, 국내 프로 스포츠와 관련된 업계의 농구 및 스포츠 마케팅 담당자 7명, 그리고 국내 프로농구 구단 관계자, 감독, 코치 등으로 구성된 농구계의 전문가 10명 등 총 26명으로 구성되었다. 델파이 방법을 통하여 여러 전문가들로부터 수집된 기본자료는 연구대상자를 분야별로 학계, 업계, 농구계로 분류하여 변화 가능성과 변화에 대한 희망의 순위 점검, 변화 가능성과 희망에 관한 합의도 점검, 전문가 집단간 변화가능성과 희망의 차이 검증 등을 조사하고 분석하였다. 또한 요인분석 결과 나누어진 요인을 중심으로 국내 프로농구 발전에 관련된 주요 항목에 대하여 어느 정도의 영향을 미치는 가를 조사하였다. 이를 위하여 평균치, 표준편차, 일반선형모형 분석 (GLM: General Linear Model), Duncan Multiple Range Test, 요인분석, 다중회귀분석(Multiple Regression)을 실시하였으며 통계적 유의도는 .05로 선정하였다. 이러한 통계 절차는 SAS(Statistical Analysis System, Window Version 6.12)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석된 결과를 토대로 (1) 국내선수들의 경기력 향상을 통한 발전방향 (2) 구단의 흑자경영을 통한 발전방향 (3) 다양한 계층의 관중 확보와 인지도 향상을 통한 발전방향 등 세 분야로 나누어 국내 프로농구의 발전방향을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study was to forecast the future changes in professional Korean Basketball League for suggesting the possible way of improving professional basketball in Korea. The subjects of this study were 26 basketball experts such as 9 universities professors and researcher, 7 sport marketing experts, and 10 basketball coaches and managers. Delphi technique was used to collect data with mail survey questionnaire for two times. Mean, standard deviation, General Linear Model, Multiple Regression, and Factor Analysis were performed with the significance level of .05 for the data analysis using SAS(window version 6.12).
Based on the results of data analysis, conclusions were drawn with the following three aspects. (1) improving competition level for Korean professional basketball players, (2) maximizing profit for professional basketball team through efficient team management, and (3) secure various level of spectators and enhancing recognition of professional basketball.
