본 연구는 크게 두부분으로 구성되어 있다. 우선 전반부는, 인터넷의 채택시기 및 지속적 활용을 좌우하는 중요한 변인들간의 인과 관계를, 전국에서 표본 추출한 125개 학교를 대상으로 한 설문 자료를 가지고 Lisrel(Joreskog & Sorbom, 1993a 1993b)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 보면, 재정적, 행정적 요인 및 외부 압력적 요인이 인터넷 채택 속도나 시기에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있었다. 또, 외부 압력적 요인이 수업 개발이나 행정업무 처리시간 단축으로 측정한 '인터넷 활용으로 달성한 성과'에 긍정적 영향을 주었으며 달성된 성과는 지속적 활용에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있음이 확인되었다.

이 연구의 후반부는 인터넷 기반 프로그램의 채택 및 지속적 활용의 양상에 관한 질적 연구였다. 인터뷰, 문헌 분석 등과 같은 다면적 자료를 분석한 결과를 토대로 보면 1) 채택시기에 재정* 행정적 지원 및 외부 압력적 요인이 영향을 미치고 있었으며 2) 성과를 내고 지속적으로 활용 하기 위해서는 장비, 시설, 소프트웨어의 업그레이드를 지속적으로 해주며 정보화 관련 요원 확보 및 인센티브 제공하는 일이 필요하였다.

앞으로의 연구에서는 학교조직에서 인터넷을 채택하여 지속적으로 활용하고 성과를 내는 데 관련한 보다 광범위한 변수들의 탐색 및 본 연구에서 제시된 인터넷 기반 각종 소프트웨어 개발 및 지속적활용 방법을 다양한 상황에서 적용 평가하는 일이 필요하다.

This study consisted of two parts: the first part analyzed what kind of variables would influence the adoption speed and continued utilization of Internet in school organizations, based upon the data sampled from 125 schools in Korea. The statistical analysis was done by Lisrel 8.3. The results indicated that financial and administrative supports positively influenced the adoption speed and achieved outcomes, such as the reduction of instructional development time and administrative processing time. And the achieved outcomes positively influenced the continued utilization of Internet in school organizations.

The second part was done by qualitative research methodology. By interviewing with teachers in a school, it was explored what kind of variables influenced the adoption speed, continued utilization, and achieved outcomes in the school. The results indicated that financial and administrative supports positively influenced the adoption speed and achieved outcomes for the school and for a school organization to continue the utilization of Internet, would need to upgrade computer facilities and softwares and to develop technology-oriented human-resources in schools.

The further study needs to explore other variables related to how school organizations adopt and utilize Internet for instruction and administration and to confirm the viability of strategies regarding the adoption and continued utilization of Internet-based softwares in various real contexts.
