This study aims to analyze aspects of Korean literature in th 1960-70s from the culturalist view, especially from the recognition frame of hegemony conflict between the rule and the resistance. Our frame is divided into the systematic level and the ideological level. The former is concluding concepts as follows : organization and media, formation of canon, and cultural policy, the latter, which tries to exercise hegemony by appellation, is concluding concepts as follows : nation, people, individual, and mass. And the former is set to Organization and Media, Canon and Mobilization, Cultural Policy, the latter is categorized into Two Nations, Differentiation of Nation and People, Totality and Individual, Mass and Customs.
Products of research obtained till now are as follows. "Myth of Totality and Myth of Individual"(by Ki-sung Lee) surveyed the power relation of the discourses of rule vs. resistance. They expressed the individual confronting the totalitarian suppressive order during the 1960-70s, which were well appeared especially in the modernist poetry of Dong-gyoo Hwang, Seunghoon Lee, and Kyoowon Oh. As a result, the individual in the Korean literature in the 1960-70s was proved to be the counteractive exit resisting to the ideology of the totality and to have the paradoxical meaning showing the fictitiousness of such resistances. "A Study on the systematic approach in the Korean literature in the 1960-70s: Centering on the hegemony struggle of the writers' organization and media"(by Yoontae Kim) investigated the aspects of rule and resistance through the writers' organization, literary magazines and general magazines. "The Reality and Desire of the Mass in the Mass Culture in the 1970s: Centering on Movies and Novels"(by Sun-ae Bae) examined the nature of the mass control, the massive taste, and the substance of desires of the mass which appeared in such novels as "Native Place of Stars", "A Winter Woman", and "A Dwarf Shooting Small Ball". "Self-contradiction of the Modernization Discourse in the Sae-ma-eul Novels"(by Hongsub Jung) investigated the hegemony struggle of nation vs. people by making an observation on the theme and the narrative strategy of so-called rural novels in the official magazine "Sae-ma-eul(New Village)". Among them, the products of Lee's and Jung's were completed and published in a scholar journal recognized by KRF.
And the subjects of studies on processing are as follows: general accounts on the literature and culture in the 1960-70s, canon making operations, formation of the system of dictatorial national cooperativism for national development, cultural policies appeared in the censorship and troubles brought on by slips of the pen, cultural policies appeared in the newspaper articles on TV dramas, the formation of the national ideas appeared in the literary theories, the analyzation of nation discourse centering on tradition and nation, the literary and cultural reflections of the ideas in the 1960-70s.
Based on the results above, the years of 1960-70s were when the oppositional discourse system on the modern institution are realized with its equipment, and when the hegemony struggles were doing violently. Through checking their aspects deeply soaked into the language, system, culture, and furthermore inner world of the individuals, it has been supported to examine the contemporary literature and culture from the viewpoint of the rule-resistance hegemony struggles, and awaken to need solving wider and deeper problems.
