Development of Individual Creativity Tests for Preschoolers and Elementary school children
In this study, I constructed "Integrated Individual Creativity Test: For preschooler and elementary school children." This test is culturally sensitive and standardized for Korean children.
"Integrated individual Creativity Test for preschooler and elementary school children" was developed on the basis of the "3-3-3 Model for Creativity Measurement" . This 3-3-3 Model is designed to measure the creativity of children. It consists of subject domain, creative thinking ability, and creative personality. Creative thinking ability involves fluency, flexibility, and originality. Creative personality includes curiosity, sensitivity, and task commitment. Subject domain contains language, drawing, and operation. This test is consisted of three sets, one is for 4-5 years old preschooler, two are for 6-8 years old and 9-11 years-old elementary school children, and divided by creative thinking ability and personality domain. Creative thinking ability, that is - language, drawing, and operation domains - consists of fluency, flexibility, and originality factors. Creative personality consists of curiosity, sensitivity, and task commitment factors.
The target groups of this study are preschooler and elementary school children in order to investigate the creativity. 1129 subjects have randomly sampled from big cities, medium-sized cities, and small cities.
The results of this study will offer three significant meanings for educators and researchers as follows.
Firstly, the developmental trends of creativity for preschooler and students in elementary level will be identified using the test instrument that was development through this study. Secondly, it will help to develop the curriculum and teaching program for fostering the creativity for children in Korea. Thirdly, as yet most of the existing most of the tests were implemented abroad and rarely reflected Korean cultural values. However, the test, "Integrated Individual Creativity Test: For preschooler and elementary school children". The study, then, would contribute to generalize test developed for measuring the creativity of Korean children.
