This study aims at confirming the essence of "Erudition(Baewoom)" and discussing the foundations of "Metaphysics of Erudition(Baewoomhak)". This study debates the proprieties of "Metaphysics of Erudition" paradigm beyond the Pedagogy, that is to say, school-oriented paradigm.
In this study, we were able to find the real meaning and the true character of "Erudition", the distorted factors oppressing the learning instinct, the directions toward recovering the learning characters, and the possibilities of "Metaphysics of Erudition" as a new educational paradigm.
First of all, "School Affluenza" and Edufascism were diffused by sticking to schooling. After the industrial revolution, factory school "mass-produced" the unskilled labors, and then, school became one of the total institutions.
Next, this study suggested four directions for recovering learning instinct, that is, the leaning as "learning-asking(學問)", the learning as "empty(餘白)", the learning as "harmony(和而不同)", and the learning as "mutual communication(意識疏通)". The former two things could be categorized as the "awakening(覺)", and the latter two as the "living together(相生)".
Finally, "Metaphysics of Erudition" gave a chance to regain Andragogy which had been concealed under the modern Pedagogy paradigm. "Metaphysics of Erudition" revealed that education exists not for the small numbers’ success, but for all. And "Metaphysics of Erudition" proposed the possibilities to overcome the educational failure and crises.
After all, the new educational paradigm, "Metaphysics of Erudition", must be an alternative plan to resolve the educational conflicts. The school-oriented paradigm can not realize the human being’s value and his/her "Learning" instinct. "Metaphysics of Erudition" needs to deconstruct the Pedagogy which is on behalf of Edufascism and school-oriented paradigm. And "Metaphysics of Erudition" persists in redefining and retranslating the ideology and concepts utilized in the age of Pedagogy. It is originally because "Metaphysics of Erudition" is an environment-focused and lifelong learning-oriented paradigm.
