'The Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program' was developed by following steps: First, it analyzed domestic and international books and articles to seek the selection standard, element analysis of content, process organization, standard organization of educational method, and basic plan of educational materials development of the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program connected with children, kindergartens, elementary schools, home and community. Second, in order to investigate the situation and necessity, issues, and awareness related to kindergarten-elementary school linkage education being applied to kindergartens, elementary schools, and home, it was developed the questionnaire, selected teachers of private and public kindergartens and elementary schools and parents as the subjects of this study, and then analyzed awareness and status of kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program. It was revealed that the awareness and situation of kindergarten-elementary school linkage education were statistically different by the background variables of teachers of kindergartens and elementary schools and parents. Third, the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program maintained objectives, content, teaching-learning method, evaluation system on the basis of research results investigating awareness and status of kindergarten-elementary school linkage education and four areas of elementary school adjustment(academic performance adjustment, peer relationship adjustment, teacher relationship adjustment, school life adjustment). It also developed kindergarten-elementary linkage education activities based on the life subject of kindergartens. Fourth, it was conducted experimental study to prove validity of early childhood practice application of the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program. It was selected the experimental group and control group, and proved the same quality of two groups through the pre-test. Then it was treated the experimental group with the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program and was provided the kindergarten-elementary linkage education program to the control group. Finally, it was revealed the positive effects of the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program on school adjustment of grade 1 children. This result proved validity of early childhood practice application of the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program developed in this study. It is expected to apply the Development Model centered kindergarten-elementary school linkage education program developed in this study to early childhood practice.
