This study, South Korea have been changed before the Christian perspective of the situation observed phenomena and to investigate. Studies range from the 1960s to the current post-modern social and cultural transformation that is taking place. In addition, purpose of this study is that church worship in South Korea to propose a new paradigm, which has the purpose, because church in Korea has been developed in the multipolar religious culture, i.e, buddhism, confucianism, shamanism. Church in Korea which is the world's fastest growing churches in the short term are insufficient in worship research. So, this research tries to find the possibility of new paradigm.
The subject of worship and culture is the best topic in the current theological field, as well as the immediate interests of the local church pastors. When you zoom in some more discussion, it is facing interfaith. By forming the identity of religious communities and to strengthen the bonds before the advent of this new cultural identity rather than doubts, and has become the subject of conflict and confrontation.
Protestant theology and traditions of Korea are aware of the depth beyond the church for these phenomena, and interpretation and understanding of various worship phenomenon is unfolding with the effort. The old paradigm of cultural change is based on changes in the interpretation. In other words, the Nairobi Declaration, Christ and Culture of Richard Niebuhr and Wainwright give the cultural typology. They bring the interpretive framework for social and cultural phenomena to integrate cultural theory.
The Protestant ecumenical movement and the evangelical movement in the dividing position with respect to share the ethos and pathos of worship. With this futuristic take part in the discourse about the past.
According to previous studies, researchers now plan to study the following results. First, the phenomenon of worship war, or worship fusion of the church service must be understood in the global cultural phenomenon, that is, the phenomenon of cultural conflict and cultural convergence. Second, worship war or worship convergence is changing from the perspective of historical study. Third, in order to distinguish between various worship changes the existing paradigm of cultural analysis is essential points. Fourth, as the future prospects of the church to worship in their own religious and cultural situation of the Church of South Korea actively have the possibility of graft.
To obtain these conclusions through the research process has the following.
1) interpretation and analysis of the existing paradigm: 1996 'Nairobi Declaration on Worship and Culture (Nairobi Statement on Worship and Culture)' and the 1997 report of the Reformed Church (Authentic Worship in a Changing Culture), and Wainwright's typology diverted from Richard Niebuhr's Christ and Culture
2) If you use an existing paradigm, situation and outlook of Protestant worship in Korea can be analyzed in ecumenical point of view. The Church of Korea in the flow of worship theology and church tradition likely to show some degree. In addition, you can find what it would like the limit. This is why you can discuss in the future because you have certain criteria. Possibilities and limitations of this paradigm, setting the characteristics of post-modern society, are confirmed. Korea's unique history and situation, especially for relatively wide to reflect the new data will be important resource.
3) Dialectical transition between liturgical church and evangelical church: the current liturgy of the Protestant worship may be discussed in the dialectical development between old culture, such as, confucianism, buddhism, shamanism.
