This study makes children to realize the importance of engineering technology-design and focus on how should convergence education of creative engineering technology-design be to make children have interest and understand themselves with new vision of engineering technology-design.
For this, to provide teaching·learning strategy and contents for elementary brain based convergence education of creative engineering technology-design, analysis the result of survey relate to teachers’ convergence education of engineering technology-design and elementary students, which can influence on convergence education of creative engineering technology-design development. Based on these, as knowledge based society, it has purposed on developing program for brain based convergence education of creative engineering technology-design.
To begin with, in first-year of research analyzed investigation of teacher's educational needs about convergence education of engineering technology-design and elementary students, which influence on developing convergence education of engineering technology-design. The results are as follows.
First, in the analysis of educational needs on the elementary students,
1. In the characteristic of engineering technology+design, 'Knowing engineering technology+design effects on environment' item shows the most highest educational needs.
2. There are 4 domain in understand of design(outline of design, element and principle of design, type of design, mrthod of basic design), and 'Knowing the history of design' in outline of design domain shows the most highest educational needs.
3. About the contents of engineering technology+design, 'Knowing how to prevent safety accident', ‘Knowing use and type of renewable energy’, 'Designing and making model of skyscraper and bridge', 'Web designing', 'Knowing human relation with animal·plant', 'Knowing principle and operation of simple mechanic device', 'Knowing a patent application and intellectual property right' items show high educational needs.
Next, in the results of investigation analysis about educational needs on the elementary teacher,
4. In the characteristic of engineering technology+design, 'Engineering technology+designing thought and creativity' items show the most highest educational needs.
5. About the contents of understanding the design, 'Relation with human and design(influence of design to human)', 'Express and make with the harmony of line, shape, and color', 'Characteristic of environment design and it's type', 'Design product which improve living' items show the highest educational needs.
6. About the contents of engineering technology+design, 'Designing daily supply', 'Designing play ground', 'Understanding of renewable energy' Designing animation', 'Human relation with animal·plant', 'Electric·electronic product design', 'Intellectual property and patent application' items show the highest educational needs.
7. In educational method of engineering technology+design contents, 'Field trip and field experience about engineering technology+design' items show the highest educational needs.
In second-year of the research analyzed elementary student, which can influence on developing creative convergence education of engineering technology-design program, and results of teachers’ educational needs relate to convergence education of engineering technology-design. Based on this analysis, developed program for elementary brain based creative convergence education of engineering technology-design and it's teaching-learning materials. The results are follows.
First, about the result of creativity,
1. In the result of controlled group and experimental group post-test, 1, 3, 5 grade experimental group showed significant improvement in fluency, originality, abstractness of the title, accuracy, resistance of impatient conclusion. Also, creativity statistically showed signigicant improvement on experimental group than controlled group. Therefore, brain based creative convergence education of engineering technology-design shows significant improvement of creativity in 1, 3, 5 grade experiment group.
Next, about the result of sensibility,
2. In case of third grade, 'delightful' and other evaluation items, and in fifth grade, many evaluation items showed positive emotional changes in significant difference. These changes shows brain based creative convergence education of engineering technology-design program effects on the change of students’ emotion be more positive.
Therefore, the program shows an effect on improving 1, 3, 5 graders creativity and also make 3, 5 graders emotion more positive.
In third-year of the research performed to learn how the brain based creative convergence education of engineering technology-design program influence on pre-teachers’ as well as elementary teachers’ sensibility, satisfaction and fitness.
The results are as follows.
First, about the result of sensibility,
1. In case of pre-teacher, 'delightful' and many other evaluation items shows positive emotion change in significant difference, and in case of elementary teacher shows positive emotion change in all evaluation items ('delightful' and etc.). Elementary teachers, which only studied making Waka-water, also shows positive emotion changes in all evaluation items in significant difference. Based on these, the program influence pre-teachers’ as well as elementary teachers’ emotion more positive in significant difference.
Next, about the results of satisfaction and fitness,
2. Convergence education program is suitable and well satisfied to pre-teacher as well as elementary teacher, and recognized that five titles helps appropriate technology(engineering technology) and design education a lot.
