This study is to identify the intellectual structure of sports sociology through the authors' co-citation network analysis for the first year, keyword network analysis for the second year focused on Korean Journal of Sociology of Sport, and authors' co-citation network analysis for the third year focused on IRSS and SSJ, In the first year, two or more research papers were published and published. In the second year, more than three research papers were published. In particular, my paper was selected as the best paper of the Korean Society for the Sociology of Sport. Two papers will be published in the third year, and I will submit two papers related to this project in IRSS and Korean Journal of Physical Education.
In the first year, I have identified the intellectual structure of sports sociology by analyzing the author 's co-citation network for Korean Journal of Sociology of Sport(1993-2012). First, how has the intellectual structure of Korean sports sociology changed through elapsing time? Second, what authors have contributed to the intellectual structure of Korean sports sociology, and how does the relationship structure between citing and being cited ? The conclusion is following: Firstly, the knowledge structure of sports sociology was being evolved and showed up a paradigm according to period. The more the time was elapsed, The more the ranking of citations authors were changed in network centrality. Secondly, minority authors contributed to formation of knowledge structure of Korean sports sociology. In degree centrality of Korean authors, minority authors was Burnjang Lim, Jonggil Lee, Younglin Chung, Shinwook Kang, Changmo Goo, Jinkyung Park, Jongyoung Lee, Keunmo Lee, Kyungsik Kim, Hongseol Kim, Beomsik Kim. Foreign authors was McPherson, Coakley, Kenyon, Jackson, Smith, Loy, Williams, Iso-Ahola, Johnson, Snyder. In betweenness centrality, authors was Burnjang Lim, Jongyoung Lee, Keunmo Lee, Changmo Goo, Younglin Chung, Kyungsik Kim, Hyomin Kang, Jinkyung Park.
In the second year, I have identified the intellectual structure of sports sociology by analyzing keyword network for Korean Journal of Sociology of Sport(1993-2014). First, how has the intellectual structure of sports sociology changed through time? Second, what keyword did the major contributing to the intellectual structure of sports sociology? The results were as follows: First, there appeared significant change in the intellectual structure of sociology of sports studies. There was notable paradigm shift in sociology of sports. Second, only a few top keywords contributed to the formation of intellectual structure within the sociology of sports studies for the past 22 years. Those keywords with high centrality included: (a) sports participation, (b) juvenile, (c) leisure activities, (d) socio-demographic characteristics, (e) life satisfaction, (f) leisure satisfaction, (g) sports for all, (h) job satisfaction, (i) participation in sports for all, (j) the aged, (k) ideology, (l) the type of leisure activities, (m) participation motivation, (n) grounded theory, (o) social network, (p) sports media. Keywords with betweenness centrality were: (a) juvenile, (b) sports participation, (c) leisure activities, (d) sport for all, (e) life satisfaction. In addition, the keyword network demonstrated a scale-free network, in which a small number of hub keywords appeared in the articles with majority keywords. That is, 20% keywords possessed 69% links from the total. Keywords network were related with quantitative research.
In the third year, I have investigated the intellectual structure of sports sociology by analyzing the author 's co-citation network for IRSS(1966-2015) and SSJ(1984-2015). First, how has the intellectual structure of international sports sociology changed through elapsing time? Second, what authors have contributed to the intellectual structure of international sports sociology? First, the intellectual structure of the international sports sociology through the analysis of the authors' co-citation network has changed through the time. Second, minority authors contributed to formation of knowledge structure of international sports sociology. In the case of IRSS, the centrality of authors such as Maguire J, Renson R, and Foucault M were high. In the case of SSJ, the centrality of authors such as Foucault M, Bourdieu P, and Maguire J were high. The centrality of the cited authors of the whole journal of sports sociology were Foucault M, Maguire J, and Bourdieu P. Maguire J, Bourdieu P, and Dunning E were the most frequently used. The co-citation network demonstrated a scale-free network, in which a small number of hub authors were cited by majority authors.
