Career transition is equipped with academic significance as it is the process of discovering a person’s ideal occupation by reevaluating the meaning of his or her career determination behavior. Here, in this study, total 100 participants were selected among the employees who had engaged in tourism industry and studied from October, 2016 until May, 2017 firstly, to figure out the determinants of career transition by age, secondly, to examine the types of career transition in those who had succeeded or failed in career transition, and lastly, to investigate how they had decided on or chosen new career, that is, the process of career choice. The results of this study are as follows: first, about the main and common reasons why those engaged in tourism industry decided on career transition, those in the 20’s and 30’s chose dissatisfaction about the environment of employment, and those in the 40’s decided on career transition due to the uncertainty of their future. Second, according to the results of comparing the hypothetic standardization and relation statements of materials continuously and then standardizing relations repetitively in each of the categories and dividing the types of determination in career transition, four types were drawn as follows: the ‘successful career transition type’, ‘alternative discovery type’, ‘career use type’, and ‘self-despair type’. According to the results of figuring out the characteristics of those types, the successful career transition type includes those who recognize internal and external support, the interventional condition, strongly. The alternative discovery type includes those who accept the determination of career transition as risk and succeed in startup through various coping methods by overcoming it. Also, the career use type includes those who recognize the determinants of career transition or contextual conditions like exhaustion subtly and perceive interventional conditions such as internal and external support vaguely, too. The self-despair type include those tend to experience much exhaustion or confusion in occupational identity on account of the determinants of career transition, face financial difficulties for career transition, lose confidence, and have no support from people around or coping methods. They often give up looking for new career. Therefore, it is needed to develop programs and provide support for career transition multilaterally by the government and also enterprises.
