Cultural Revolution has held Chinese art and literature in China. It can be mentioned the typical example how that national power has influenced formation of literary champ in that era. The formation of literary champ depends on various elements, for example, censorship, publishment, literary awards, structure of literary circles, and response of readers and so on, but the national power is very important element in modern and contemporary China that has been taking a serious view about the interrelationship of literature and politics. In spite of that element has not appeared suddenly in modern period, but it is oriented by the thought that “The literature has to include its own truth(文以載道)” in ancient Confucian scholar, but it has been influenced since 1920's when the interrelationship of literature and politics has been thought more important. Since 1949, that relationship has changed to subordination. The significant, Cultural Revolution shows very interesting imagination to us, why the revolution took the modifier, the Cultural. It, maybe, in 1949 the ‘politic revolution’ has been ended, and in 1950's the ‘economic revolution’ has tried, so that naming was very natural result. In the period of revolutions before Cultural Revolution, Mao Ze-dong has not held his own power, he has drawn culture into the revolution unavoidably. In that process, ‘New China’ entered the experimental period of Socialism. The intention of national power about holding art and literature can be mentioned a extreme method of the experiment.
The ‘model drama’ and ‘model drama cinema’ have received attention in the art and literature in the period of Cultural Revolution, but this essay will be concerning with the ‘model drama cinema’. I want to solve the reason why the national power has taken attention to cinema genre. In fact, the model cinema through out remaking repeated and took that status of canon. According to the guidances and principles of national power has given their cinemas the status. This essay will deal with following films as ‘model dram cinema’ : Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy(智取威虎山), The Red Lantern(紅燈記), Shajiabang(沙家濱), The Red Detachment of Women(紅色娘子軍), Raid the White-Tiger Regiment(奇襲白虎團), Ode to the Longjiang River(龍江頌), The Harbor(海港), The White-Haired Girl(白毛女), Azalea Mountain(杜鵑山), Fighting on the Plains(平原作戰).
It can be mentioned with following that reasons why the national power has taken attention to cinema.
At first, individual taste of Jiangqing(江靑): Jiangqing was an actress in Shanghai 1930's. She has shown attachment about cinema in everywhere, so I think at firs step, the individual taste would strengthen the intention about cinema.
The second, the property of cinema: The reasons why it has remade the model drama to cinema without satisfaction are concerned with property of record and spread. In spite of cinema is not easy changed after first record, but it has chosen record canon and spread wide people. It has been remaking the model play continuously until that period, and has completed canon series. But it made the record to an important element, and the others of cinema was disregarded.
The third, response of mass and hero system: in order to induce the response of mass, cinema could show hero system, but play like model play at that time that be performed by many other actors and actresses in spread area. It is concerned on the art and literary theory that think much of hero like three projection theory is one of the most important principles. At last, cinema has not ability to make anti discourse(champ): literature can make underground movie by itself, but cinema in that dictatorship area absolutely cannot make their anti discourse. Because it is the property of cinema itself, the national power has given them the status of canon.
