This project aims at building the infrastructure for "digitalizing" the humanistic research and education within the college curriculum of the humanities. The "digitalizing" infrastructure means the following four: first, the multimedia classroom where the digital humanities classes can be held, the studio where various digital practices and experiments can take place, and the multimedia viewing room where small classes and seminars can be held with all the necessary digital facilities. Second, the institutions or the organizations that pursue the digitalization of the humanities education systematically. Third, the website that accommodate all the digital experiments of this project. Fourth, the educational program for the digital humanities that can be included within the current humanities college curriculum. For the first, we have been fortunate enough to get a separate block within the humanities building that consists of three multimedia classrooms with all the necessary facilities, digital studio, and multimedia viewing room. For the second, we have set up a research institution called "Center for the Humanities and Digital Technology" as a part of "The Humanities Research Institute" within the college of humanities of Ewha Womans University. For a more flexible academic cooperation of the participating members, we also organized an informal research group called "hcrg(humanist computing research group)" that carries out the humanities digital projects on a more consistent basis. For the third, we have constructed an independent hcrg website(www.hcrg.org) that runs on a separate server. This website is multipurpose: hcrg homepage that provides a series of on-line tutorials for the basic computer skills, updated news and materials concerning the humanist computing, and various hcrg data and materials including the course materials for the digital humanities classes I, II, III. The Digital Humanities website sections have very complicated multi functions such as online-classrooms, web contents for the culture of the East and the West, the independent database for the culture studies. For the fourth, we developed three different syllabi called Digital Humanities I, II, III. Digital Humanities I and II are basically a technical training programs of basic computer skills specially designed for the humanities major students. Digital Humanities III(A Web-based Study of Culture) is a culture class where students are expected to apply a series of computer skills learned from I and II to the assigned research projects concerning the culture of the East and the West. Digital Humanities III has 6 sub-sections each of which, sharing the same platform, is dealing with the culture of the six countries(three in the West[UK, France, Germany] and three in the East[Korea, China, Japan]) This is a kind of showcase to show how the digital techniques are made use of in the area of the humanities subjects.
