The purpose of the research is 'A Study of the Nobility’ in Tibetan Society between 1700 and 1959. It is a new research term studied in the academia of Korea. Therefore, the research attempt for the reason of Tibetan nobility's rise and their influences in the terms of Tibetan Buddhism for the first time in Korea has an important academic significance in the regard of new knowledge and understanding creation out of the previous typical studies of Tibet.
The fundamental purpose of the study is to historically investigate the nature of Tibetan nobility which was the mainstay of politics, economics, and culture in Tibetan society from the Tibetan Empire period to modern times and to find out, based on the study results, new facts by tracing a several historical truth. Thus, the detail academic goal and motive are set up as follows; Analysis for authorities and influences of living Buddha who was the head of Tibetan aristocrat religion and politics, analysis for the power structure resulting from Tibetan aristocrat religion and politics union, and analysis for the historical meaning and role in the rise and fall of Tibetan nobility.
The study has been carried out, based on the study purpose described above, as follows; At first, Tibetan typical society structure has been traced and analyzed as the process of the reason for the rise and fall of modern Tibetan nobility power structure. The truth and formation process of so-called Tibetan aristocrat feudal serfdom and the differences between the common people and nobility are analyzed and the organization and public service's situation of Kasha established in days not long past are reviewed in detail. Secondly, the origin of Tibetan nobility, the reason for their rise, and characteristics are studied. On more specifically, among the classification of the nobility, especially the diffusion power of authority, politics, and religion of the Dalai Lama's relatives known as golden family has been investigated. Thirdly, the relation between Tibetan nobility and their theocracy has been studied. Since 1751, Tibetan society entered into the genuine theocracy period led by the Dalai Lama. Tibetan nobility established the co-existence relationship with the Dalai Lama, at this time. Its reason may not be separated from the emergence of the Dalai Lama' relatives as new nobility. Therefore, the interrelation between Tibetan nobility, the Dalai Lama, and theocracy have been historically studied. Lastly, the role and influences of Tibetan nobility are analyzed in priority as their interrelation's result. For instance, it is claimed that Tibetan nobility was emerged in politics based on their economic foundation and manor and was the actual influential group in Tibetan society.
In conclusion, the subject of the study has been empirically carried out to find out how Tibetan nobility was maintained in Tibetan society from ancient times to modern times and how they performed their role and influences by 1959 when the equality of class was accomplished in China.
