1) 연구목적 및 배경
협동조합이 현재 우리 국민경제의 버팀목으로써 중심적 역할을 맡고 있지만, 아직도 협동조합에 대한 사회적, 경제적, 정치적 관심은 물론이고 학문적으로 소외된 결과 동 분야에 관한 기초적 학술 연구는 거의 전무한 상태이며 연구인력도 극히 부족한 실정이다. 그러나 협동조합이 우리 경제의 중요한 조직으로 활동하고 있기 때문에 협동조합의 촉진과 국민경제의 발전은 분리하여 논의될 수 없다. 이에 본 연구는 협동조합학의 육성과 학문의 균형적 발전 그리고 국민경제의 견실한 기반 구축 및 강화에 역점을 두었다.
2) 연구내용 및 방법(범위)
상기한 연구목적과 관련하여 본 연구는「협동조합의 발전잠재력」,「협동조합과 국민경제」,「협동조합의 사회정책」을 중심적 내용으로 협동조합의 정치경제를 분석하였다. 그리고 이 연구 결과의 설득력 제고를 위해 사회주의체제에서 협동조합의 특성과 의미를「북한 협동농장」의 예를 들어 살펴보았다. 또한 선진국에서의 협동조합의 정치경제적 역할과 기능을「독일협동조합」의 사례를 통해 짚어보았다. 이외에도 현재 협동조합의 미래 지향적 발전을 위한 대안으로써 지목되고 있는「사회적 경제(Social Economy)」의 특성과 발전 가능성을 논의하였다.
3) 연구결과
본 연구의 핵심 주제를 다음 3편의 논문으로 세분하여 다루었다. 즉 첫 번째 주제인 협동조합의 발전잠재력은「협동조합의 혁신논리와 발전점재력에 관한 연구」의 논문에서 논의하였다. 두 번째 주제인 협동조합과 국민경제는「농업협동조합법 개정안의 문제점, 국민경제의 일원으로써 농협육성을 위한 국가정책을 중심으로」의 논문에서 그 문제점과 해법을 살펴보았다. 세 번째 주제인 협동조합의 사회정책은「협동조합사상에 대한 정치경제적 재조명, 탈국가화 조류의 대안으로서」의 논문을 통해 협동조합의 사회정책적 문제점과 그 해법으로써 협동조합의 정치경제적 특성의 보호와 육성을 짚어보았다. 그리고 상기 3 주제와 관련한 본 연구결과의 설득력 제고를 위해 사회주의체제에서 협동조합의 정치경제가 지닌 특성과 문제점을 "북한 협동농장의 개편에 관한 일 연구"의 논문에서 다루었다. 또한 자유시장경제를 선택한 선진국에서 협동조합의 의미를 "A Review of German Co-operative Legislation with Special Emphasis on Co-operative Groups"의 논문에서 논의하였다. 이외에도 협동조합의 장기적 발전을 위한 대안으로써 현재 각광을 받고 있는 프랑스의 사회적 경제를 "Social Economy and Promotion- orientes Economies, How do we define a common denominator for enterprises in social economies, co-operatives and non-profit organizations "의 논문을 통해 그 특성과 문제점 및 해법을 살펴보았다.
4) 연구결과의 기대효과 및 활용방안
본 연구는 다음과 같은 효과를 기대할 수 있을 것이다. 1) 협동조합적 협동논리의 적용 대상 확대로 학제간(interdisciplinary) 연구 촉진, 2) 협동조합에 대한 경제적, 사회적 인식 제고, 3) 협동조합교육의 질적 향상과 이를 위한 자료 제공, 4) 협동조합발전을 위한 전문연구인력 육성, 5) 부족 자원의 최적 활용과 국민경제의 균형적 발전을 위한 협동조합의 성과 제고, 6) 서민층의 생활안정을 위한 대안으로써 협동조합적 협동 가능성의 다양화, 즉 협동조합정책의 대안 제시, 7) 세계화된 시장에서의 협동조합의 경쟁력 강화를 위한 대안 제시.

The main purpose of this study is to stimulate researches related with co-operatives as a subject matter. To deal with this topic, this study focuses on three issues: 1) developmental potentials of co-operatives, 2) national economy and co-operatives, and 3) co-operatives and socio-policy. The first issue has been discussed in the article "A Study on the Innovative Potentials of Co-operative", the second issue in the article "Problems of Amendment of Agricultural Co-operative Law, Policies of Government for Promoting Agricultural Co-operatives as a Member of National Economy", and the third issue in the article "Co-operative Idea in the Light of Political Economy, As Alternatives to the Current of Denationalization".
To make the above mentioned issues more persuasive, we examined the characteristics and problems of political economy of socialist co-operatives in the article "A Study on the Transformation of Collective Farms of North Korea into Market-Oriented Co-operatives," and the importance of market-oriented co-operatives in the article "A Review of German Co-operative Legislation with Special Emphasis on Co-operative Groups". In addition, the characteristics and problems of the social economy has been discussed as an alternative to the future development of co-operatives in the article "Social Economy and Promotion-oriented Economies, How do we define a common denominator for enterprises in social economies, co-operatives and non-profit organizations "
By reviewing the studies mentioned above, we would come to understand that it is necessary to :
1) encourage researchers to do interdisciplinary studies by enriching relevant theories about co-operatives,
2) further understand the economic and social aspects of co-operatives,
3) improve the educational quality and provide sufficient materials for co-operative movements,
4) educate qualified researchers and lecturers in the related areas,
5) enhance co-operatives' productivity in order to optimally allocate scarce resources and efficiently develop the national economy,
6) widen the scope of cooperation and collaboration between co-operatives as an alternative way to stabilize the national economy,
7) offer an alternative to strengthen the competitive power of co-operatives in the globalized market.
