Why should we study life, death, death instinct, and heredity in Deleuze? As we know, Deleuze criticized sharply a traditional metaphysics, and constructed a new ontology and metaphysics according to principles of difference and repetition. But we failed to notice the problem of life in philosophiy of Deleuze, although Deleuze constructed the new ontology, because of the problem of life. Therefore, it is important to try to connect outcomes of science of life and an intention of Deleuze who researched the principle of differece and new principles of genesis of life according to self-repetition of life.
Deleuze found the origin of problem of life, it's heredity, and it's death instinct in Freud. Freud divided sexual instinct and ego instinct, and he noticed that death instinct is contained in ego instinct. In order to explain the death instinct contained in ego instinct, Freud studied the biology and natural history, and he noticed the distinction of somatic heredity and Keimplasma in it. The reasons why Deleuze is interested in reading of Weismann by Freud are first, how to make the problem of death instinct by Freud, and second, connection of death instinct and repetition. Deleuze criticized Freud, because of lack of geneative and fundamental force of life in Freud, who adheres to the devel death instinct of repetition compulsion. As a result, the problem of death and heredity was connected along the line of Weismann chosen by Deleuze in this reserch.
A lot of important things were Deleuze given by the distinction of somatic heredity and Keimplasma heredity of Weismann. Especially the Keimplasma herediy differed death instinct of Freud made a possibility of new heredity, or anti-organic thought in model of life. Deleuze transformed the distinction formula of somatic heredity and Keimplasma heredity into two kinds of heredity. The one is micro-historical-somatic heredity, instinct heredity, and the other is macro-reproduction heredity, heredity of crack. Deleuze noticed heredity of crack operated in family, the reason why beyond the destructive repetition complusion, this heredity of crack became the principle of another repetition.
The principle of repetition of Deleuze is interpreted through the bodies without organs and into the principle of genesis as anti-memory. Anti-memory is beyond the death instinct, and the important basic principle which changes the Keimplasma heredity into heredity of crack, and it shows that the principle of life as accumulation of memory could be against the vertical geneology. The origin of thought against the vertical geneology begins from Nietzsche. Nietzsche denies the vertical geneology, rather emphasizes the memory in the eternal return, and such a memory seems to be similar to the thought formula of anti-memory of Deleuze. Deleuze thinks that the heredity of crack was originated from the death instinct. Consequently, the anti-organic and anti-human thought of Deleuze can be considerd as the basic of new mechanism in philosophy of life.
Through the result of this research, we can rethink the tendency of ignoring of life in our society in the humane studies, and philosophical and ethical demension. Also if we could think the connection of life, and environment and ecological system, we would offer sufficiently the new vision and horizon of the ecological philosophy. If this research could achieve the result, and if it should bring in the model of multiple and creative heredity of crack in life and becoming against the main trend of our society for the example, then it can make the multiple and creative human model for post-modern society. This new human model can become creative vertual model which can have the power to be able to do the thought of tunring point of life in the new lineage.
