The main theme of the research is a “systematic study of migration legislation based on social integration.” For this, research consists of annual topics. The first year topic is the “integration between immigrants and native. For this we build up research members and cooperation networks among related institutions. In addition, we reviewed results from the previous research of our research group and existing network in local areas and international field. Especially we investigated the case Europe, where the history of migration is much longer than South Korea, in social integration and history of immigration. Based on that we examined distinguished character of South Korean immigration, consititutional value on immigration, immigrant worker and multicultural family, social integration policy, and migration legislation.
In the second year of the study, the theme was "Comparison of Social Integration and Legislation: Migration Legislation from the Viewpoint of Social Integration". At this stage, we strengthened cooperation with external organizations by holding seminars and conferences, and publishing basic data on immigration legal research (preparation). In terms of contents, we will examine in detail the transition of European social integration policy, the analysis of social integration of migrant society members, comparative legal examination with Korea's immigration law, the basic rights and legal disputes of migrant workers, the legislative policy analysis on current immigration law, And how to improve the legal system.
In the third year, the theme was "Grammar of Social Integration and Migration Legislation: Formation of New Individuals and Communities." There were academic conferences and publications, followed by the first and second years, and dissemination of research results. This study examines social integration policies and their achievements in Europe, studies on family law and family policy from the perspective of social integration, challenges for social integration of migrant workers, challenges for social integration from a constitutional and policy perspective, and plans for diffusion.
