Artificial intelligence technology plays an important role in the 4th industrial revolution. This study is to analyze the relationship between artificial intelligence and law in the areas of legal theory, legal practice, legal education, and legal policy. The first research goal of this study is to explore the fundamental change of the theory of law focusing on futurology, sociology of law, and philosophy of law. The second research goal is to analyze the impact of artificial intelligence on individual legal areas. The third research goal is to predict how AI will play a role in the areas of legal practice and examine how the legal system should be reorganized.
First of all, in the first year of the study, we studied the artificial intelligence technology, the change of legal theory due to the emergence of artificial intelligence technology, and the direction of change of the fundamental law related to artificial intelligence. To study the technology of artificial intelligence, the study team studied deep learning based on multi-layer perception, convolutional neural network, deep neural network, deep learning, and natural language processing based on recurrent neural network. To experience the research applying artificial intelligence technology to the field of law from a computer-engineered perspective, the study team attended "The 16th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law". In addition, through the comparison of human and artificial intelligence, it was possible to study the basic structure and function of brain and memory, consciousness, thinking, attention, consciousness. The study team focused on the reconstruction of rights and obligations theory in modern law, the possibility of changes in the law paradigm, and the legal personality of AI.
The first year's study focused on exploring the AI technology and its impact on the legal theory, the second year's study focused on exploring the changes that AI would bring to individual legal areas. In addition, the comparison of human and artificial intelligence which was one of the topic of the first year was deepened in the second year, and accordingly the study team tried to estimate the influence of artificial intelligence on civil law, criminal law, copyright law, social law, transnational law, and data law.
In the third year's study, the studies of human and artificial intelligence in the first and second years were continuously intensified, and the research topics were the changes in legal services due to artificial intelligence, changes in judicial practice and the legal market, and directions for the development of data law.
