This study aims to explore possibilities of re-establishing social value system of the human ‘work’ in public dimensions. Due to the revolutionary changes in modern technology, including AI-Driven Automation, convergence researches in humanities and social science are urgently needed.
Technology does not only mean the ability to make tools, but also a cultural form wherein humans relate themselves with the nature and the world, therefore it must be understood and interpreted in an human attitude toward the world. Self-optimization of an intelligent physical system threats and reduces the territory of human work.
In addition, recent researches on the modern technological revolution based on automation without human participation mainly focus on the effects of technological engineering mechanisms and economic policies, however, there must be studies discussing creativity and community restoration through ‘work’ and concerning ‘human-technology convergence’ from the standpoint of humanities and social sciences. Consequently, the purpose of this study is proposing system and policies for restoring the existential meaning of human work and AI-automation, and the public value of work.
Therefore, this study had conducted in three areas: 'Technological Revolution and the Crisis of Human Work', 'De-synchronization of Technology and Human', and 'Inter-adaptive Automation Model as the Convergence of Human-Technology'. In the first year, as a basic research, data on 'technological revolution, work, publicness and culture' from various perspectives have collected, classified according to the character and content of the subject, and shared its humanistic interpretation based on the historical background of the era, then the result had been verified through academic conferences.
In the second year, as an in-depth study which based on the basic research of the first year, the European smart cities, which implement human-technology cooperative convergence in their smart city policy, had explored to study the humanistic and smart cities where the technology is applied to the public policy. Special lectures from experts also had been conducted and the result was reflected on the conferences we held.
The academic result of this study, which seeks the sustainability of the technological society, will be used not only to build the academic discourse necessary for the construction of a future human-technological convergence society, but also as a resource for education of citizens and businessmen as well as students. Furthermore, outcomes of this study which reflect the viewpoint of humanities and social science, could be used as practical data for establishing the foundation of future technology- culture industry and for formulating policies for employment and education by activating practical discourse on human-technology convergence.
