The purpose of this research is to explore how the paradigm of Joseon Gyeonghak thought was shaken and transformed by illuminating the history of Gyeonghak thought in the Joseon Dynasty from a critical point of view according to a cultural pluralistic viewpoint. The methodology of this study, Critical Study of Cultural Pluralism, is a study to examine the characteristics of Chosun Gyeonghak thought history reflecting the unique culture of Joseon from the standpoint of acknowledging cultural diversity and relativity. In other words, it is a study to clarify the characteristics of Gyeonghaksasangsa that reflects the unique culture of Joseon that is distinct from China and Japan. To this end, this study was conducted with the study of Neo-confucianism, Yangmyeonghak, etc.
This study aims to clarify the dynamic process in which various hermeneutic paradigms of Gyeonghak thoughts such as archaeological studies, moral practice studies, and practical studies are mutually influenced, agitated, and transformed by the subject of each scripture. In particular, this study approaches philosophical trends such as Neo-Confucianism and Yangmyeonghak, which reveal the interpretive characteristics of Confucian scriptures, from the perspective of paradigm, presupposing equal values of various paradigms, I want to read out the features. In the first stage of the study, the paradigm of the Gyeonghak thought history of the Joseon Dynasty was carried out over three years, focusing on the Gyeonghak interpretation of the Four Books. In short, this study carried out the paradigm of the Gyeonghak thought history of the Joseon Dynasty over three years, focusing on the Gyeonghak interpretation of the librarian.
First of all, in the first-year Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Analects, along with the economic characteristics of the Chosun Neo-Confucianism with a slightly different perspective from the Zhoushi’s variorum notae like Jo Ik, and understanding of the Analects of the Yulgok School's thesis from LeeYi to Song Si-yeol, Kim Chang-hyup, and Han Won-jin, dealt with the intention of ‘antiquity (古)’ in Chosun Gyeonghak. The Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Mencius focused on the unique characteristics and significance of the recognition of the central bureaucrats during the Joseon Dynasty, and dealt with the whole picture of the Gyeonghak ideology of the early Joseon Dynasty. We examined how is being used. The Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Mean focused on clarifying the unique characteristics of Jo Ik from Yi Eon-jeok and Park Se-dang's Gyeonghak ideology. The Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Great Books shed light on the meaning of Gyeonghak thought of Choi Myung-gil, which showed the difference between Juja and Yangmyeong, from the royal study of Yieon-jeok, and the concept of ‘Gangchi’ in the early Joseon period.
In the second year, the Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Analects, clarified the characteristics of Lim Young's understanding of the Analects, who explained the Analects from the perspective of discipline and practice. The Mencius Gyeonghak Thought Research Team explored how the Mencius is being discussed in the theory of mental discipline. In the second year, the Gyeonghak Thought Research Team the Mean dealt with Wonjin Han, who commented on Admiralism in the second year, as well as Yun-Hyu, who had a certain degree of critical attitude toward Juja-hak, and the view of ‘Moderation’ of profit. The Great Book Gyeonghak Thought Research Team explained the characteristics of Toegye Lee Hwang's interpretation of the Great Book.
In the third-year, Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Analects conducted a study on the subjective understanding of Daeyong Hong's the Analects, the composition and significance of Saseochanjujeungbo[『四書纂注增補』], and the theory of the Analects of the Seongho school. The Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Mencius dealt with the perception of Yeongjo and Jeongjodae about the Mencius. In the third year, the Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Mean is conducting a study to identify the characteristics of the understanding of moderate rations by Kim Won-haeng of Nakron, a comparison of Yun Hyu and Jeong Yak-yong's business relations, and the understanding of moderate rations by Yeongnam people. Gyeonghak Thought Research Team of the Great Book, focused on Jeongjo and Yoon Haeng-im's interpretation of the preface to Daehakjanggu[大學章句], Seongho School’s theory of inmulseongdongyi[人物性同異], Dasan Jeong Yak-yong’s understanding of the Great Book and its political and ideological meaning, and the concept of ‘strengthening’ in the late Joseon Dynasty.
This study will become a catalyst for expanding and fusion of the horizons for studying Confucian scriptures by deepening the understanding of the constitutional system of Kyunghak. In addition, this study will be able to suggest a standard for viewing the various paradigms of Gyeonghak thought from a consistent perspective as the horizons of individual subject areas and the horizons of Gyeonghaksa are unified.
